Collection consisting mainly of modern reproductions of earlier prints, with a few originals. Includes a photograph of George Sarton, inscribed by him to Henry Guerlac, June 1941; an etching (circa 17th century) depicting the Studio Publico in Bologna; a hand-colored print of the (then) new gallery of the Vatican Library, 1794; a print from the original woodblock of a plate from Realdo Colombo's De re anatomica, 1559; a 20th-century postcard reproduction of a print depicting Justus Liebig's laboratory in Giessen in 1841; a photograph of the fountain at Trinity College, Cambridge, inscribed by Sir Joseph and Lady Thomson; silhouettes of science faculty including H.H. Boysen and Howard B. Adelmann; modern reproductions of a few of the illustrations in Vesalius's De humani corporis fabrica; and reproductions of paintings of William Osler, Walter Reed, and others from the series Pioneers of American Medicine, with a series prospectus.

Historian of science, George Alfred Leon Sarton was born on August 31, 1884, in Ghent, Belgium. He studied the natural sciences at the University of Ghent, and received his D.Sc. in 1911. Escaping to England before World War I, Sarton then came to the United States in 1915.
